Pandora Perfecto

Have you heard of Pandora.com? In my view, it provides the best music listening on the web. You can create “radio stations” that suit your particular tastes in music. You can do a “thumbs up” on selections you like and a “thumbs down” on those you don’t. How cool is that? Pandora has struggled to survive because of the licensing mess but it deserves to. It is a high quality service.
There was a Pandora message in my inbox today. They have just launched classical music. How neat! Check it out. If you have an ear for good music, you’ll be glad you did. I’m not sure how the links below will work if you’re not a member. So sign up! It’s free!
New on Pandora: Classical Music
Since we launched Pandora 2 years ago, our most common request from listeners has been that we add Classical music. We’re excited to announce that Classical music is now available on Pandora. Enjoy, and please let us know if you have any feedback. The Classical Genome is a work in progress and we’d love to hear any of your suggestions on how to improve it.
If you’re new to Classical music, here are a few stations we created to help you get started:
* Symphonic, Classical Period Listen Now
* Symphonic, Romantic Period Listen Now
* Piano Concerti, Classical Period Listen Now
* Opera, Romantic Period Listen Now
* Chamber, Baroque Period Listen NowAlternatively, you can create a station by typing in the name of your favorite composer:

Dad,
Glad you found a place. Bay Ridge is a great community — takes me back to my first days at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, when my cats and dog were staying with my dear friend and colleague Bob Hays. I was waiting for my Park Slope co-op to close to reunite the animal clan. Bob died in 1997 after a valiant fight with AIDS. His apartment wasn’t that far from yours.
Enjoy your first Thanksgiving back in Brooklyn. Andrew and I will be at home between Christmas and New Years. We invite you to come up for a visit, if you’re up for it.

I will have to check out Pandora. Do you buy music on itunes? You’re a big Apple guy now, right?
We hope you have a Happy Turkey Day!
Oh, you asked about wordpress v. blogger. I’m not sure that you’d like blogger. I have a couple acquaintance friends who switched from wordpress to blogger and they hated it. I’m new to blogging though, so what do I know?

“Big Apple” guy? Is that a pun Heather? NYC yes, iTunes No. I don’t need to buy any more music.
Pandora…try it you’ll like it. It takes a bit of work at first to get the hang of it, but it’s worth it. BTW, you have cool music on your blog.
Thanks for your feedback re: blogger. It isn’t free, but maybe TypePad is a better choice for me. I’ll check it out with a 14-day free trial.
Hope you’ve healed from your part time dog catcher job. Get a net!
Happy Turkey Day to you guys too!

This is a Pandora station I named Nana Mouskouri. Have a listen.
You’ll hear voices from around the world mostly in languages other than English. Most of the time I’d rather not understand the lyrics, but listen to voice tonal qualities and emotion instead. Pandora tries, but I keep editing out American country selections. Pandora has also introduced me to international singers I’d probably never have discovered. Tell me what you think.
