Toto, I’ve a Feeling We’re Not in Kansas Anymore

img_0470.jpg This was my view while eating a MacDonalds grilled chicken sandwich close by to the Ebbets Field Middle School. There’s an SUV burning behind the fire engine. Look just below the Ladder 113 sign and you can see the flames. At one point they were shooting up higher than the truck.

img_0479.jpg I sat there wondering about the shock the owner would have retuning and seeing this.

img_0489.jpg After a while another SUV made a u-turn and parked behind the burned out one. It’s difficult to see that the men are wearing yarmulkes. It’s obviously their car.

img_0490.jpg Soon the NYPD arrived on the scene. Was this a hate crime of some sort? Cars don’t usually ignite by spontaneous combustion. I’d love to read the police report on this since I couldn’t hear the conversation. Wadda ya think?

So here’s an example of photo journalism while sitting in a MacDonalds. Only in New York! These photos are a good example of why NYC is the street photography capital of the world. Go on Flickr and you’ll see. There are a flock of talented photographers walking the streets with their cameras at the ready.

Incidentally, my truck was parked only a few spaces away last Saturday.

Glad to hear that you’re eating and finding some time to relax and take photos. I’m sure you’ll have many opportunities to capture chaotic moments in NYC. Stay safe!

As for the apartment sharing situation – could be interesting, but are you sure you’d prefer a female roommate? Women are crazy.

I don’t know Heather; perhaps you have a good point. In any case you cracked me up with that comment. I haven’t lived with anyone of either gender for a very long time. How the hell do I know? I have a ‘wanted’ ad running on Craigslist and will answer ads.

MacDonald’s has become my main source of ‘relaxed’ dining both eat-in and take-out. I discovered No. 6 grilled chicken sandwiches and this evening had an Asian Salad. This stuff surprisingly is pretty damn good.

I’m back in the HOJO and for the first time did not go anywhere today. I’m weary of being a luggage Sherpa. I’ve discovered that my laptop shoulder bag is a lot heavier than expected. I think I’m going to get a good backpack.

Sounds like fine dining! Hey, MacDonald’s serves Paul Newman salad dressing – can’t be all bad.
As for roommates – if you could find a cat with an endowment or trust – that would probably be best! ;)
All is well here in spite of the heavy smoke smell and ash – no real complaints though considering the losses too many people in So. Cal are suffering with.

Just had another No. 6 and yes I noticed the Paul Newman salad dressing with the Asian Salad.

Karen, do you know if the Helena Modjeska house escaped the fire?

I think that landmark house is fine – the properties that burned are listed as residences.
